*PDG Wally Barrett OAM

Nominated by Lions Club of Boddington

Past District Governor Wally joined the Boddington Lions Club as the Charter Secretary in 1976. His work took him throughout the state and he was also a member of Goomalling, Kwinana and Narrogin Lions Clubs. He is currently a member of The Lions Club of Mandurah. Board member for many years, holding the position of President 4 times Held the Cabinet positions of Deputy District Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Zone Chairman, Drug Awareness Chairman, Save Sight, Mints and Campaign Sight First.

Elected to the Position of District Governor for 201W2 in 1998/99 Former State Chairman of Campaign Sight First for 5 years, PDG Wally has also been a board member of The Australian Lions Drug Awareness Foundation and State representative for Australian Lions Mints. A Life Member of Lions Clubs International. He has received numerous awards and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. Received the Efficiency Medal and Bar, Australian Defense Medal, Police Service Medal, National Medal, Reserve Force Medal, Distinguished Service Medal, National Service Medal to Local Government and has been a Shire Councilor for 18 years and is currently the Shire President for the Shire of Murray. Fundraising Chairman for Lions Walk for Sight for 18 years and was the Australian Representative at Bombay, India for World Drug Conference in 1988.

*PDG Tom Cameron OAM

Nominated by the Lions Club of Morley

A Charter Member of the third Lions Club to be established in Western Australia, The Lions Club of Morley; Past District Governor Tom was a tireless worker for Lions. The third District Governor of the then District 201L in 1968/69. 22 years on District Cabinet in a variety of roles including Youth Exchange Chairman and was Chairman of several District Conventions. He held the position of Extension Chairman for the whole of Western Australia. Life Member of Lions Clubs International and a Melvin Jones Fellow. Key Member, Lion of the Year and was the first Western Australian recipient of a World President’s Award. In 1995 received an Advance Australia Award and for 20 years was Vice President of The Civilian Maimed & Limbless Association. He was also a Past Vice President and workshop coordinator of the Para Quads.

A Justice of the Peace for over 20 years, Tom was also a Past President of the Swan Districts Football Club. Assisted in the formation of numerous Lions Clubs including Inglewood, Osborne, Merredin, Kalgoorlie, Tammin, Goomalling, Northampton, Mullewa, & Lake Grace just to name a few of the 41 Clubs he helped form. Constitution & By Laws Chairman for District 201L for many years. When the City of Perth Lions Auxiliary bought a 22 foot caravan to be used as a portable testing clinic for people in WA for glaucoma, Tom would head off for weeks on end up into the Pilbara & Kimberley regions of northern Western Australia. The Screening Van was the forerunner to The Lions Eye Institute and Lions Save Sight Foundation. The Tom Cameron Award was struck in his honour by the Lions Eye Institute. At the Lismore Convention held to mark the 50th Anniversary of Lions in Australia in 1999, the Lismore Medal was presented to 20 Lions who were recognized for their outstanding contribution to the establishment and growth of Lions Clubs in Australia. Past District Governor Tom Cameron was one of the recipients.

*Lion Lorna Dodd

Nominated by the Lions Club of Manning

Nominated by the Lions Club of Manning Lion, Lorna Dodd Joined Manning Lions Club in 1994 Served her Club as President for 2 consecutive years and has also served as Club secretary for 4 years. Other Club positions include Membership and Cake Chairman. Appointed to District Cabinet in 1996 as Hospitality Chairman and as District Chairman for Lions Hearing Foundation from 1997 through to 2008. Received a James D. Richardson Award in 2002, International President’s Appreciation Certificate in 2005 and a District Governors Appreciation Award. In 2010 was City of South Perth’s Citizen of the Year.

Lion Lorna is a tireless worker for Lions, volunteering on behalf of Lions on a weekly basis for St Vincent de Paul as an Opportunity Shop Assistant for 11 years. She knits for King Edward Memorial Hospital Prems and World Vision. She is a Read & Write tutor, teaching English to migrants twice weekly and also presents current affairs to Castledare Retirement Village on a weekly basis and assists the Ryder Cheshire Foundation, transporting the sick and also acting as relief House Mother for 8 years. Lion Lorna Dodd is one of those unsung heroes who goes about her Lions work without fanfare or fuss, committed to doing everything she can to assist those in need.

*PDG Des Hitchcock

Nominated by the Lions Club of Port Kennedy

PDG Des Hitchcock Joined the Karratha Dampier Lions Club in 1976. As a Bank Manager, Des moved on a fairly regular basis and he was a member of Kalamunda Lions Club, Lynwood, where he was appointed as Guiding Lion by Cabinet to build the Club up, Lesmurdie, Rockingham and was with The Lions Club of Port Kennedy before he passed away. Held numerous positions on Cabinet including Lieutenant Governor, Cabinet Secretary, CBL Chairman, Zone Chairman, Ringabout, Miss Personality, Fund raising projects, New Clubs Orientation and Training Forums. District Governor in 1993/94 Held the position of Secretary for Lions Save Sight Foundation, Youth Exchange, Scandinavian Goodwill Tours and New Clubs Orientation Officer.

PDG Des organised Scandinavian and Australian Lions adult visits and managed all aspects of a Scandinavian Youth Choir visit, including hosting, concert and sightseeing. Treasurer for the Multiple District Convention in 1994 and was on the Multiple Districts Legal Committee for 10 years as consultant for Districts 201W1 and W2. Received numerous awards for his Lions work over the years including International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation, is a Life member and a William Tresise Fellow. Melvin Jones Fellow and has received a Lions Save Sight Foundation Fellowship Award.

*PDG Norm Innes

Nominated by the Lions Club of Ballajura

PDG Norm Innes Joined Lions in 1976 as a member of the Lions Club of Hamersley; a larger than life character whose Scottish accent never waned. He held an executive position at Club level most years, including multiple terms as Club President and Secretary. He was also a Guiding Lion Appointed as Zone Chairman in 1981 and served on Cabinet for many years, becoming District Governor for 201W1 in 1988/89. Best remembered for his antics in promoting Lions Christmas Cakes. He never let an opportunity pass to promote Lions and a huge advertising board could always be seen on the verge outside his home advertising Lions Christmas Cakes in the lead up to Christmas each year.

PDG Norm received many awards including James D Richardson Award, District Governor Extension Award, Tom Cameron Award and Melvin Jones Fellowship Award. Life member of Lions, Norm also received an Australia Day Active Citizenship Award. He had more than 35 years perfect attendance record and sponsored more than 20 new members. He was involved in the charter of a number of new Lions Clubs, including Ballajura Lions Club where he ultimately became a member. Norm was the first to volunteer and more often than not, the last to leave.

*PDG John Knowles OAM

Nominated by the Lions Club of Floreat

PDG John Knowles OAM was a Lion for over 45 years, having joined Floreat Lions Club in 1967. Club President 3 times, Secretary 4 times and Treasurer      4 times. He has served as a Director of Floreat for 18 years. Cabinet Secretary for 201W1 for a total of 13 years and was District Governor in 1979-80. Held other Cabinet positions and was State Chairman for Miss Personality for 2 years. At National Level served as Convention Sergeant at Arms for 6 years, Australian Lions Foundation Chairman for 7 years and as Emergency Grants Chairman for 16 years.

Awards: Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow, and a William Tresise Fellow.              2 James D Richardson Awards as well as 2 International Presidents Awards and 10 International President’s Certificates. Recipient of 6 District Governor Star Awards, a Tom Cameron Award and the inaugural recipient of the John Knowles Award. Life Member of the Lions Club of Floreat. Recipient of the Lions Clubs International Ambassador of Goodwill Award. Inducted into the Australian Lions Foundation Hall of Fame in 2009, John received the Order of Australia Medal for services to the Community through Lions. Inducted into the Past District Governors Hall of Fame, is a Lions Save Sight Fellow and a Lions Save Sight Life Member. For many years ran the Lions Shop from the back of the premises of his own Pharmacy Shop in Leederville and is largely responsible for the healthy state of District 201W1’s finances today. A true example of “We Serve”.

*PDG Malcolm Levinson

Nominated by the Lions City of Perth (Host) Club

PDG Malcom Levinson Was the first West Australian District Governor in 1966 – 67 Joined the Lions Club of City of Perth (Host) Club as a Charter member in 1962 and was duly elected as 3rd Vice President. Malcolm was a jeweller by trade & his brother Robert was the Charter Secretary. After the Charter year, Malcolm served as 1st Vice President and then as President. Served as a Zone Chairman until the Region 3 Convention hosted by Victoria Park Lions Club He was elected to be the first District Governor of Western Australia during the year 1966/67.

PDG Malcolm was involved in a number of Club charters and convened the first meetings to form Clubs in both Geraldton and Carnarvon Went on to serve on Cabinet for a number of years in positions as diverse as International Relations, Information, Constitutions and Conventions. Had the honour in 1968 of sponsoring into Lions the then Western Australian Governor, Major General Sir Douglas Kendew as an Honorary Lion.

*Lion Don Levy

Nominated by the Lions Club of Morley

Lion Don Levy Lion Don was a member of The Lions Club of Morley. Joined Lions in 1960, making him arguably the longest serving Lion in Western Australia as at the time of his induction into the Hall of Fame. Don joined the Lions Club of Ku-ring-gai in New South Wales, transferring to Wellington South Lions Club, before seeing the light and moving to Western Australia. He transferred to City of Perth Lions Club before eventually transferring to Morley Lions Club. Served as President of every Club he was a member of and served Morley Club as President 4 times.

He was appointed Guiding Lion for 3 new Clubs and held numerous Cabinet positions including terms as Cabinet Secretary, Deputy District Governor, Zone Chairman, Leo Chairman and Extension Chairman. Chairman of the W1-W2 Fundraising for the Trotting Club, Chairman for the New Zealand Youth Exchange and in 1985 received an Advance Australia Award. Received no less than 23 Lions Awards and was awarded Life Membership in 1993. He was also a Melvin Jones Fellow. Received a Gold Police Award in 1993, Stirling Council Citizens Award, a 60 year Jewell Masons award, the 3rd highest award for Grand Treasurer for 13 years and was also Chairman of the Alexander Park Bowling Club.

Lion Noel Smith OAM

Nominated by the City of Perth (Host) Lions Club

Lion Noel Smith OAM Joined The City of Perth (Host) Club in 1967. Served terms as President for 12 years, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, Tail Twister and Membership Chairman. Served on many Club projects, often as chairman, which included Save Sight screening for glaucoma and amblyopia, which was the first mass screening of the public in WA, and helped in the Lions Identikid Bus, He was highly commended by the police service for his foresight and initiative in making this project possible.

At District level served on Cabinet for 20 years, 12 of those as Cabinet Treasurer. It was during Noel’s tenure as Cabinet Treasurer and due to his astute business acumen and his sound investment knowledge that enabled the District’s finances to blossom. Youth Exchange Chairman for 4 years and through his tenacity and drive to help young people to enjoy cultural exchange, he was responsible for forming and developing exchange programs with South Africa and Germany. Responsible for bringing Camp Quality to Western Australia in 1984. He was founder and chairman for a number of years. His Club and later the District took Camp Quality on as a project for many years until the wider business community came on board with financial support.

Lion Noel received numerous awards over the years for his caring and dedicated work. Awards include International President’s Award for involvement in Youth Exchange, James D Richardson Award, William Tresise Fellow and is a Melvin Jones Fellow. He is also a Member of the Order of Australia and a Life Member of RSPCA where he served 20 years as their National Treasurer and served as a WA Councilor of the RSPCA for 36 years. Serves on the Ethics Committee for Royal Perth Hospital.

*PDG Lorraine Strickland

Nominated by the Lions Club of Canning City

Past District Governor Lorraine joined Lynwood Districts Lions Ladies Auxiliary in 1977 and the Lions Club in 1992. Served as Club President        3 times and as Secretary 3 times. Held a board position for 16 years.

District positions included Zone Chairman, District Leadership & Development Chairman, Membership & Extension Committee, Youth of the Year Chairman, Zone Chairman Co-ordinator for 10 years and Sergeant at Arms for District Conventions twice. Became the first female District Governor for 201W1 in 2001/2002 Save Sight Board member and Honorary Secretary before becoming Chairman of The Lions Save Sight Foundation in 2005 until her death. On the Multiple District Membership & Extension Committee for 3 years and 4 years as State Coordinator for Lions Youth of the Year. During her 4 year term, three National winners came from Western Australia.

PDG Lorraine received numerous awards for her work in Lions and was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow . An educator who never stopped learning. Her Teaching career was interrupted by a horrific car accident in 1986. While recuperating she enrolled in a Master Programme at Murdoch University and after earning her Masters Degree she was employed by the University, teaching and mentoring external Education students. Lorraine’s passion and enthusiasm for learning and Lions was widely respected as she willing passed on her knowledge and experience to all who sought her counsel.

*PDG Rick Sullivan

Nominated by the Lions Club of Stirling

Past District Governor Rick was inducted into Lions in 1978, joining the Victorian Lions Club of Portarlington Drysdale. In 1983 Rick transferred to Inglewood Lions Club. He quickly became involved in that Club’s activities and established the Youth Encouragement Awards for young children through local schools and junior sporting groups. He was a regular raffle ticket seller at the Maylands Hotel every Friday afternoon. Served as Inglewood President in 1987/88 On Cabinet of 201W1 for many years as District Public Relations Chairman and Regional Chairman, becoming District Governor in 1991/92.

Whilst District Governor, Rick started the Lions Exemplary Service Award, for members of the public who were not Lions. He continued to administer the award for over 15 years until he could no longer continue due to ill health. Prolific promoter of Lions and did so at every opportunity. He wrote the information booklet “Who are the Lions?” for new and prospective Lions. He instigated Lions Day in the City and was responsible for Walk for Sight, a fundraising initiative for Lions Save Sight Foundation where he was a Director for a number of years. PDG Rick received numerous awards for his tireless work, including, Tom Cameron Award, William Tresise Fellowship, James D Richardson Award, Ian Stockdale Humanitarian Award and was a Melvin Jones Fellow. Life Membership was bestowed on Rick in 2009. An outstanding mentor for many less experienced Lions and was never too busy to help anybody who asked.

Lion Dr John Williams

Nominated by the Lions Club of Leeuwin

Lion John is the Charter President of the Lions Club of Leeuwin which makes him a Lion for 41 years. Held many positions within the Leeuwin Lions Club including Tailtwister, Vice President, President twice, Social, Aged Care, Project Recycling, Youth and History Chairman. Awarded Life Membership of Lions Clubs International in 1992 and has sponsored over 11 new members into Lions. Has an unending and abundance of energy that has seen him establish an Aged Care Facility in Augusta, an all-weather airstrip in Augusta, a boat ramp and jetty and the establishment of the Sea, Search and Rescue Service in Augusta.

Often called upon to MC at different functions, including neighbouring Lions Club’s changeovers, Lion John is an enthusiastic visitor to other Clubs fostering goodwill and leadership. Helps run The Anaconda Adventure Race weekend held in Augusta each year.

PDG Colin Beauchamp AM JP

PDG Colin Beauchamp AM JP Joined Lions Club of Manning in 1984. He was Club President 3 times, Personality Quest Chairman 5 years, Zone & Region Chairman District Governor 1996/97, Guiding Lion Port Kennedy, First year board member of Lions Eye Institute & Lions Hearing Foundation and 23 years on Board of Lions Cancer Institute – 15 as Chairman.

DG Colin is a Life Fellow of Lions Cancer Institute and Melvin Jones Fellow, and has been awarded the James D Richardson Award & Ian Stockdale Humanitarian Award .

Colin was also Awarded Order of Australia (AM) in 2007 for his work with Cancer screening

*Lion Murray Fletcher

Nominated by the City of Perth (Host) Lions Club

Lion Murray Fletcher joined Lions Clubs International in 1965, 48 years as a Lion. He has held numerous club positions including President and Secretary Cabinet Magazine Chairman – West Lion Magazine – 17 years,   2 years for W1 then 15 years editor for both Districts One of 36 original members of the Incorporated Lions Eye Institute and 10 years as a Director of Save Sight Foundation .

Lion Murray has received numerous awards including District Governor Plaques, International President’s Appreciation Award, District Star Award, James D Richardson Award, Melvin Jones Fellow.

Murray has also been a member of Royal Aero Club for 45 years, 46 years as a pilot, Member of Police Aero Club for 30 years, as well as Club computer project Chairman through whose efforts to date over 2000 computers sent to overseas under privileged children.

PCC Ian Kelly OAM

Nominated by the Lions Club of Booragoon

PCC Ian Kelly Joined Lions Club of Booragoon in 1973 as a Charter Member before transferring to Falcon Lions Club as a charter member in 2008 and Mandurah in 2010.

PCC Ian has a Membership Advancement Key and Perfect Attendance for over 40 years. He has held most club positions including several terms as Club President District Governor in 1992/93 and Council Chairman in 1993/94.

PCC Ian is an Australian Lions Foundation Trustee and has received numerous awards including William Tresise, Lloyd Morgan Honoured Trust Fellow, James D Richardson Award, International President’s Certificate of Appreciation and Lion of the Year, and is a Melvin Jones Fellow.

*PDG Bill Laundy

Nominated by the Lions Club of Carnamah

PDG Bill Laundy spent 29 years a member of Lions Clubs International. Bill moved extensively throughout WA with work and has been a member of Bridgetown, Rocky Gully, Mandurah Waters, Newman, Denmark, Kalgoorlie and Carnamah. He held numerous positions at Club level including several terms a President & Secretary, Zone Chairman 4 times, Region Chairman 2 times, CBL Chairman for 8 years, Leadership Chairman for Western Australia, District Governor W1 in 2003/04 and again in 2010/11, and was a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow.

PDG Bill received the District Governor’s Medal (twice), an International President’s Certificate Star Award. He also resurrected Newman Lions Club from 2 members to 30 plus in 3 years and established a joint aged persons unit agreement with Homeswest whilst in Denmark Lions Club.

*PDG Joe Mason OAM

PDG Joe joined Lions in 1959 and was known as the “Father” of Lions in Western Australia. He was a charter Member of Lions Club of City of Perth (Host) in 1962, later transferring to North Perth and Mandurah. Joe was awarded Life Member in 1988 and served on W1 District Cabinet for 18 years; was District Governor in 1983/84 and a Founding Member and Director – Lions Help to Hear Foundation, Director Lions Save Sight Foundation.

PDG Joe founded Lions Identikit 1983 and was the WA Lions Children of Courage Awards. He was an International Representative 1964-72 servicing Australia and the Pacific Islands. He was accredited with chartering over 100 new Lions Clubs and has received James D Richardson Award, 50 Year Charter Monarch, 9 International Presidents Awards, 4 International Presidents Extension Awards, Supreme Extension Award (one of only 5 ever awarded to an Australian) Melvin Jones Fellow Medal of the Order of Australia for service to the community through Lions Clubs International. He was a Justice of the Peace (appointed 1981)First Lion in Western Australia and in 2002 was inducted into the Multiple District ALF Lions Hall of Fame.

*PDG Harry Snell OAM JP

PDG Harry Snell OAM had over 40 years as a member of Lions Clubs International and was a pioneer of Lions in Western Australia.

 PDG Harry’s achievements included a Master Key (30 new members) and he was instrumental in starting 20 new Lions Clubs.

PDG Harry was a Justice of the Peace and was awarded an OAM in 2001. He served in most club positions including several terms as Club President, District Governor, Extension Chairman, Youth Exchange, CBL Chairman & WA Representative on Darwin Relief Committee.

PCC Ambrose Depiazzi OAM

PCC Ambrose Depiazzi PCC Ambrose joined the Mandurah Lions Club in 1971 and has long been a stalwart of the Mandurah Lions and trusted advisor to many District Governors and Cabinet Officers in District 201W2. *PDG Robin Dixon

Nominated by the Lions Club of Duncraig

PDG Robin Dixon joined the Duncraig Lions Club in 1998. While a Lion he involved himself with Foodbank, the Community Development Fund. PDG Robin was also involved in the Clontarf Football Programme and in the Kingsley Football Bali Appeal and became a Trustee of the account which was operated through Lions. This fundraising account was set up to control monies in trust for the players who were injured in the Bali bombings in 2002.

PDG Robin assisted in the revamp of the Dianella Lions Club, became a member and introduced many new members. He organised a two page spread which was an insert in the Western Australian which was one of his great achievements and he put Lions out there in the public.

Robin became a Melvin Jones Fellow and received the James D Richardson honour award twice Received an International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation. Before becoming a Lion, his list of volunteering was very wide and well known.

PDG Brian King MBE OAM

PDG Brian King joined the Crawley Lions Club in 1966. He was a Lions Club Membership Charter member Crawley, Claremont Nedlands, City Beach, (currently) Perth Lions Eye Institute. Club Positions held include President, Secretary and various other positions at all of the above clubs . At the District Level he was District Governor 1972/73, Cabinet Treasurer, District Chairman several times, while at State Level, Chairman Lions Save Sight Foundation, Secretary Miss Personality Quest; and at National Level, Member Multiple District Council Insurance Committee for 7 years.

Awards received by PDG Brian include International President’s Medal, 100% District Governor, 5 International President Appreciation Certificates, Numerous District Governor’s Awards . Some of Brian’s Outstanding Achievements include as District Governor, established the Lions Miss Personality Quest, Director & Chairman of the Lions Save Sight Foundation (WA), Founding Chairman of the Lions Eye Institute in Western Australia (LEI), Established Memorandum of Understanding between UWA & the LEI, Represented LEI at the Airlancca University in Indonesia. He also presented papers at two International Conventions in Hong Kong (1993) and Minneapolis St Paul, USA (1974).

Lion Professor Ian Constable AO

Nominated by the Lions Club of City of Perth (Host)

Lion Professor Ian Constable AO Lion Ian joined the City of Peth (Host) Lions Club in 1975. Ian’s expertise as Foundation Chair of Ophthalmology at the University of Western Australia led to the establishment of the Lions Save Sight Foundation.

Later Ian became a Director of the Lions Eye Institute in Perth. Ian has been instrumental in attracting international research funds to the Institute and today it ranks as one of the outstanding eye research centres in the world.

Lion Spencer Field

Lion Spencer joined the Albany Lions Club in 1965 in District 201W2. The following Club, District and Multiple District & International awards and positions are a sample of his numerous achievements in Lions Awards:

PDG Jeff became a Lion in 1972 and has long been a stalwart of the Collie Lions Club as evidenced by the following. His achievements have been outstanding and still are – amazing for an 83 year old – obviously he has made Lions his life. He served at District level from 1975 to 2005 in just about every imaginable position and so too at Club level over a longer period of time. At Club Level, he is their living library when it comes to Lions history, constitution, by-laws, general advice or anything Lions. He has officiated at countless inductions of new members and new office bearers for his Club as well as other Lions clubs. Grant applications are left to Jeff because he does them so well – they are always successful.

This year Lion Jeff took on the role of club Secretary again, Bulletin editor, Secretary for the Ewington Management Committee.

Lion Roy originally became a Lion in 1969 as Charter President of Meekatharra, then Charter Vice president of Leeuwin in 1971, Charter President of Kulin in 1972, Secretary of Narrogin in 1976 and finally, Bulletin Editor and Programmes Chairman of his current club, Manjimup in 1978.

Awards: This is just a sample of the many awards he has received: James D Richardson Award, Melvin Jones Fellowship, 40 year Charter Monarch, Key Member Award, District Governor’s Appreciation Award, Zone Chairman Award, Secretary of the Year Award, Life membership, Perfect Attendance Award , Extension Award and the list goes on.

In every Club he has been involved with over the years, he has held just about every position – President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Chairman and Tail Twister at each.

Lion Barry Bristow-Stagg Lion Barry has been a member of the Northam Lions Club for over 45 years. Barry has held all club executive positions. He has also been Zone Chairman at District Level.

In Northam, Lion Barry has assisted with the introduction of the Lions Food Van. He has also been active in the support of the Avon Hospice aged care units.

Lion Philip Caunt

Nominated by the Lions Club of Busselton

Lion Philip has been a Lion for over 19 years. He is currently a member of the Busselton Lions club after transferring from his original club, Carnamah, then to Ballajura club, after which he moved with his wife Beth to Busselton. He is currently Treasurer of the WA Lions Hearing Foundation.

Lion Philip has also been the Chairman and the Secretary of the WA Lions Drug Education Foundation (WALDEF) over a period of 11 years. He has also been the Secretary of District 201W1’s Cabinet over many years during which he used and shared his extensive Lions knowledge. Lion Philip has received over ten major awards including two International President’s awards.

*PDG Bill Dente

PDG Bill Dente Lion Bill was a Lion for 34 years. He was responsible for the chartering of the Lions Club of Katanning in 1973. On his return to live in Perth in 1974, he joined the Lions Club of North Perth. At North Perth Bill held all executive positions which culminated in him becoming a District Governor in 1989.

Lion Bill became active in numerous District projects including establishing the District Help to Hear and Drug Education Foundations. Bill was awarded Life Membership in 2007 by the Leeuwin Lions Club.

PDG John (Jack) Sells

PDG John (Jack) Sells Lion Jack has been a Lion for over 36 years. He has held all executive positions at three Lions clubs. He served as a District Governor in the Lionistic year 1981/1982.

Jack was named Club Secretary of the Year in 2011/2012, and is a life member of Lions.

Lion Lynette (Lyn) Mitchell

Nominated by the Lions Club of Collie

Lion Lynette (Lyn) Mitchell Lion joined the family of Lions in 1986 when she joined the Lioness Club of Collie. In 1992, she joined the Lions Club of Collie-Wellington, an all-female Lions Club, as a Charter Member. Lyn then became a member of the Lions Club of Collie in 2012, an all-male Lions Club, when it merged with the Lions Club of Collie-Wellington to form a mixed gender Lions Club.

Lion Lyn has held many Club positions including President, Secretary and Treasurer. She has also served on the 201W2 Cabinet as Hospitality Coordinating Chairs. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has also received a number of President’s Appreciation Awards.

Outside of Lions, Lyn has been nominated for the Collie Citizen of the Year, is a life member of the Collie Basketball Association and has been awarded a 30 year badge by the WA Government in recognition of her service through the Read, Write, Now Project.

*PDG Irma Needham

Past District Governor Irma Needham was an active member of the Lions Club of Collie’s Ladies Auxiliary from 1972, where her husband, PDG Jeff, was a member, before she joined the Lioness Club of Collie as its Charter President in 1986. In 1992 Irma joined the Lions Club of Collie-Wellington and has held many Club positions including President, Secretary and Treasurer. At District Level, she served as Associate Lioness Chair, Zone Chair, Region Manager, Region Leadership Training Coordinator, Vice District Governor 201W2 in the 2000/2000 year, being the first woman to hold that position in Western Australia.

PDG Irma completed the Lions Leadership Course in 1993 and the Advanced course in 1977 and was a Director of the Lions Save-Sight Foundation of WA in 2003. She is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has received many other awards and recognitions, including District Governor’s Appreciation Award, 100% Region Manager Award and 100 % Zone Chairman Award.

Outside of Lions, Irma received the WA Director General of Education’s Certificate in recognition of her services to education, particularly with children with special needs, and was a Life Member of the Collie Women’s Hockey Association.

PDG Clive Reid

Past District Governor Clive Reid has been a member of Lions for 45 years, from when he first joined the Lions Club of Dardanup in 1972, where he served as Club President, Vice President and Secretary. He then joined the Lions Club of Bunbury Wollaston and then the Lions Club of Boyanup, where he again served as Club President, Secretary and Treasurer, before joining the Lions Club of Donnybrook where he once again served as Club President, Secretary and Treasurer.

At District level, he has held many positions including District Chairman for Lions Dryandra Forest Village, Lioness & Leos, Hospitality and Special Projects, as well as Zone Chairman, Deputy District Governor 201W2 in the 1988/1989 year. He was also on the Host Committee for the 1991 Brisbane Lions International Convention.

PDG Clive is an avid Lions Pin Trader and has served as President, Vice President, Secretary and Director of the Australian Lions Pin Trader Club over many years. He is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has also received many other recognitions, including two Lions Clubs International Extension Awards, many 100% District Governor Awards, a Guiding Lion Award and two Lions International Pin Trading Club Pin Design Awards.

Lion Robert (Bob) Street

Lion Robert (Bob) Street has been a Lion for 39 years and joined the Lions Club of Booragoon in 1978. In that time, he has served the Club as President, Secretary, Membership Director, Drug Awareness Chairman, Welfare Chairman, Tail Twister, Lion Tamer and as Chairman of the Club’s signature project, its annual Carols at Sunset event.

At District level, he has held the positions of Deputy District Governor, Zone Chairman and District Chairman for many portfolios, including Leos, Lionesses, Christmas Cakes, Youth Projects, Miss Personality and Dryandra Woodland Village.

At State level he has held the positions of Chairman of Lions Dryandra Woodland Village, Deputy Chairman & Director of the Lions Save-Sight Foundation of WA and Director of the WA Lions Drug Education Foundation. He is a Life Member of Lions International, a Melvin Jones Fellow and has received many other recognitions, including a James D Richardson Award, Lions Save-Sight of WA Fellowship, Tom Cameron Award, 35 year Monarch Chevron and a District Governor’s Star Award. Outside of Lions he has been heavily involved for many years with the City of Melville’s Citizens Relief Fund and Meals on Wheels and in 2011 he received the City of Melville Citizen of the Year Award.

*Lion Theresa (Tess) Leedham

Lion Tess joined Lions in 1986 when she joined the Lions Club of Parkerville as a Charter Member. In 1990, at the request of then District Governor, John Roberts, she joined the Lions Club of South Perth, where she immediately took on the position of Secretary of this all male Club and then joined the newly formed Lions Club of Bunbury Wollaston as its Charter President in 1992. Lion Tess then joined the Lions Club of Boyanup in 1996, where she held the positions of President and Treasurer, before joining her final Club, the Lions Club of Donnybrook, where she held the position of Secretary on a number of occasions.

At a District level, she held many positions over her year’s in Lions, including that of Cabinet Secretary, Region Chairman, Zone Chairman, District Magazine Coordinator, District Children of Courage Chairman and Sergeant At Arms at the 2003 Boyup Brook District Convention. She also served as a Director of the WA Lions Miss Personality Committee and as WA Lions Coordinator on the National Lions Christmas Cake Committee, as well as the WA Trustee and National Secretary of the Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation.

Was a Melvin Jones Fellow and the recipient of an International President Certificate of Appreciation, two Lions Clubs International Extensions Awards and an Australian Lions Children’s Mobility Foundation Gold Award.

Outside of Lions, Tess served in the Citizen Military Forces (CMF) for 10 years, obtaining the rank of sergeant, was a member of the Business & Professional Women’s Club where she became their National Secretary and was also a member of the Boyanup CWA, where she served as President, Secretary & Media Officer and later joined the Donnybrook CWA.

Lion Haydn McInnes

Nominated by the Lions Club of Kulin

Lion Haydn was a Charter Member of the Lion Club of Kulin in 1972 and is still a passionate and active member of the Club.

He has held many senior positions within the Club over the years, including that of President and Treasurer, holding both of those positions on many occasions and has also been involved in most of the Club’s projects and fund raising activities over his time as a member.

At a District Level, Haydn has held the positions of Deputy District Governor, Region Chairman, Zone Chairman on seven occasions and was awarded Zone Chairman of the year in 2017.

Lion Haydn is a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Life Member of the Lions Club of Kulin.

Outside of Lions, Haydn has been a Kulin Shire Councillor for many years.

*Lion Bill Weir

Nominated by the Lions Club of Collie

Lion Bill was a member of the Lions Club of Collie for 35 years.

During that time he held many positions within the Club, including President, Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President, Convention Chairman, Lion Tamer and Director, as well as being the Guiding Lion for the newly chartered, all female, Lions Club of Collie-Wellington in 1992 and was Chairman of many other Collie Lions Club projects.

The Lions Club of Collie would not have their own clubhouse if it were not for Lion Bill, as he was the main instigator in forming a committee to approach the WA Education Department about taking over the Old Ewington School premises, which had fallen into disrepair.

Lion Bill was a Melvin Jones Fellow and was twice voted the Collie Club’s Lion of the Year.

Outside of Lions, he was a Collie Shire Councillor for seven years, Secretary/Treasurer of the Collie Basketball Association and Chairman of the Old Railway Goods Shed Restoration Committee.

Bill was voted Collie’s Citizen of the Year for the huge amount of voluntary work he did for the citizens of Collie.

PDG Bruce Hearman

PDG Bruce joined the Lions Club of Donnybrook in 1994 and has held many senior positions within the Club over his 25 years membership, including that of President, Secretary, Treasurer and Tail Twister.

At a District level, Bruce has again held many positions, including that of District Governor in 2004/2005, Vice District Governor, Region Manager, Zone Chairman, Leadership & Training Chairman and Campaign Sightfirst II Chairman.

At a National level, Bruce has held the position of Chairman of the Membership & Retention Committee and is a graduate of the Lions Clubs International Faculty Development Institute for Senior Lions Trainers. } Bruce has received many recognitions in his 25 years in Lions, including Donnybrook Lions Lion of the Year, 25 Year Monarch, Melvin Jones Fellowship, James D Richardson Honour Award, International President’s Excellence Award, International President’s Appreciation Award and District Governor’s Star Award.

Outside of Lions, Bruce was a member of Donnybrook Junior Farmers (Rural Youth) for 9 years and State Vice President of that organisation in 1971. He has served as a Committee member and Secretary of the Donnybrook Football Club for 6 years. He was a member of the Apex Club of Donnybrook for 15 years, including being President in 1980 and was awarded Life Membership of Apex in 1987.

Bruce was a Councillor of the Shire of Donnybrook/Balingup for 25 years, including being President for 13 years, for which he has been recognised with the Local Government Long & Loyal Service Award and the Local Government Distinguished Service Award. Bruce has been involved with his local volunteer fire brigade, including being Chief Fire Control Officer, for 35 years, for which he was recognised with a National Service Medal in 2002.

Bruce was involved in the creation of a Community (Bendigo) Bank to service the Shires of Donnybrook/Balingup & Capel in 2001, acting in the positions of Director, Vice Chairman and Chairman until 2015. He was appointed a Justice of the Peace in 2006 and was appointed Honorary Freeman of the Shire of Donnybrook/Balingup in 2009.

Lion Beverley Charles (Bev) Howard

Lion Bev has been a Member of the Lion Club of Booragoon for 36 years, joining the Club in 1983.

He has held many senior positions within the Club over the years, including that of President, Vice President, Membership Chairman, Tail Twister, Welfare Chairman, Xmas Cakes Chairman, Social Director, Bulletin Editor, Sausage Sizzle Chairman, Program Chairman, Convention Chairman and Club Dryandra Woodlands Village Chairman.

At a District Level, Bev has held the positions of Region Chairman, Zone Chairman, Welfare Chairman, 2015 Convention Chairman and Dryandra Woodlands Village District Chairman.

Bev has been involved with the Lions Dryandra Woodlands Village as a Director and Chairman for over 20 years and has also served as a Director of the Lions Save-Sight Foundation of WA.

Lion Bev is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has also been recognised with a James D Richardson Honour Award, 100% District Chairman Awards, a District Governor’s Appreciation Award, President’s Appreciation Certificates and a 35 Years Monarch Chevron.

Outside of Lions, Bev served in the Citizens Military Force (CMF) for 2 years, was a member of the Junior Chamber of Commerce (Curtin Division) for 6 years and a Group Leader with the 1st Fremantle Sea Scouts for 10 years.

Bev has made over 180 donations of blood plazma to the Australian Red Cross, as he has a reasonably rare blood type, for which he recently received a special recognition.

Bev has also served as a Director of Melville Cares for 4 years and for 9 years as a volunteer driver of their 20 seater bus, taking clients to doctor’s appointments and shopping.

Lion Brian Williams

Nominated by the Lions Club of Kingsley-Woodvale

Lion Brian initially joined the Lions Club of Jerramungup in 1986, before transferring to his current Club, the Lions Club of Kingsley-Woodvale, as a Charter member in 1990, when he relocated to Perth in his position as a school teacher.

During that time he held many positions within the Club, including that of President (four times), Secretary (many times), Treasurer, Vice President, Xmas Cakes Chairman and Youth of the Year Chairman.

At District level, Brian has held the position of Youth of the Year Chairman, a position he also held at State level. Until recently, Brian also held the position of National Youth of the Year Chairman for six years. He is still involved in mentoring youth and helping Lions navigate through the many new child protection requirements which have become necessary in recent times, which are assisting Lions Clubs and members Australia wide.

Lion Brian is a Melvin Jones Fellow and has also been recognised with a Tom Cameron Award, an Arthur & Lorna Dodd Award and many certificates of appreciation.

Outside of Lions, Brian has had a career as a school teacher, working in many schools throughout the State of Western Australia. This background has helped in his community service, particularly his work in the area of youth.

Lion George initially joined the Lions Club of Minyip in 1959 as a Charter Member, before transferring to Lions Club of Dandenong in 1962, then transferring to Lions Club of Sandringham in 1966 again as a Charter Member and then his current Club, the Lions Club of Booragoon in 1986.

Prior to joining Lions George was a member of the Apex Club of Albany from 1954 to 1956 and the Apex Club of Bunbury from 1956 to 1958.

During that time he held many positions within the Club, including that of President, Secretary, Treasurer.

Lion George is a Life Member a Melvin Jones Fellow, William R Tresise Fellow, James D Richardson Honour Award recipient an has received an International President’s Certificate.

PDG Timothy Irvine

PDG Lion Tim initially joined the Lions Club of Darwin Sanderson in 1984, before transferring to Lions Club of Townsville Ross Valley in 1985, then transferring to Lions Club of Bull Creek in 1989 and then his current Club, the Lions Club of Atwell in 2012.

During that time he held many positions within the Club, including that of President, Treasurer and Membership Chairman.

At District level, Tim has held the position of Zone Chairman, CBL Chairman, Leadership Chairman, Global Membership Team Coordinator, Cabinet Treasurer and District Governor.

On a Multiple District level Tim was a member of the MD Convention Committee and Committee Chairman, Leadership Chairman, Global Leadership Team Coordinator and member of the management team for 9 years.

On an International level Tim was a GLT Area Leader and Lions International Trainer.

Lion Tim is a Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow and has received International President’s Certificates of Appreciation and Leadership medal. He is also a member of the Australian Lions Foundation Hall of Fame.

Lion Geoffrey Roberts

Lion Geoff initially joined the Lions Club of Booragoon in 1975, before transferring to Lions Club of Bull Creek in 1979 and then his current Club, the Lions Club of Rockingham in 2009.

During that time he held many positions within the Club, including that of President, Treasurer, Vice President, Miss Personality Quest Chairman and Youth of the Year Chairman.

At District level, Geoff has held the position of Regional Chairman, Zone Chairman, Leo Chairman, Hearing Foundation Chairman and WALDEF Chairman.

Geoff was also Secretary of WALDEF.

Lion Geoff is a Life Member and Melvin Jones Fellow.

Outside of Lions, Geoff was a founding member of the Willetton & Districts Local Drug Action Group and was part of the Local Drug Action Groups Inc Management Committee from 2001 to 2005.

Past District Governor Alan Hawkins joined the Lions Club of Rockingham in 1995 and transferred to the Lions Club of Port Kennedy in 2003.

In those 26 years Alan has held the positions of 3rd Vice President (4 terms), 1st Vice President (6 terms), President (6 terms), Treasurer (2 terms), Lions Sunset Jazz Concert Coordinator (5 years), Malibu Special School Model Boat Day Coordinator (8 years) and on club boards for 20 years.

At District level Alan has been Dryandra Olympics weekend organiser for 9 years, Zone Chairman (3 terms), 2nd Vice District Governor, 1st Vice District Governor, and District Governor, District Centennial Celebrations Coordinator, Joint organiser of the 2017 Lions Centennial Ball for districts 201W1 and W2, and CBL Chairman, Chairperson of the Lions Myalup Pines Cottages Project Board, 2020 ANZI Pacific Forum Chairperson.

In 2022 Alan was the Multiple District Convention Chairperson and is currently the state representative for Australian Lions Hearing Dogs.

Alan has been awarded and James D Richardson Award, he is a Melvin Jones Fellow and Progressive Melvin Jones Fellow. He has received District Governor Certificates of Appreciation, Appreciation Award Medals, International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation, 2017 Lions Clubs International Centennial Silver Dollar, and Australia Day Community Event Award 2022, to name a few.

In his community Alan has worked on the Malibu Special School Council for 18 years chairing the council for 7 of those years. President, secretary and treasurer of the Fremantle Workers and Flying Angel Dart Club and member for over 30 years. Cockburn/East Fremantle Football Club committeeman and Riverton Social Golf Club committeeman & Club Captain.

Lion Gordon McDougall

Nominated by the Lions Club of Narrogin

Lion Gordon McDougall joined the Lions Club of Narrogin in 1972.

A lion for 49 years he has held the positions of 3rd Vice President (twice), 1st Vice President, President, Secretary (twice), Treasurer (7 times), Dryandra Chairperson, Bulletin Editor, Tail Twister and Lion Tamer. 

Gordon’s major contribution at District and State level has been as a member of the board of Dryandra Woodland Village. Joining the board in 1972.

In 1974 he was documented as investigating bringing electricity to the village to replace the lighting plant and was on the finance committee for the Village Board serving as treasurer for 45 continuous years. Gordon was the active go between with contractors, agencies and various Clubs that sponsored houses during the establishment period.

Gordon liaised with the Department of Conservation and Land management and the Commonwealth Development and Employment Program to obtain funds and workers to upgrade facilities including car parking, roadways and buildings. On two occasions he obtained funds from Parks and Wildlife and Shire of Cuballing allowing upgrades of the dam so Dryandra now has a high quality and quantity potable water supply. 

Gordon was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation on behalf of the Government and people of Western Australia for service to the community as a shire councillor from 1977 to 1995. Australia Day Citizen of the Year in Cuballing Shire in 1977. Numbat Industries Award in recognition of devoted service from 1984-1996 to this small business established in Narrogin for disabled people and to create employment and development opportunities. National Field Day award in 2002 in recognition of exhibiting for 22 years. John Lynn Memorial Award in 1996 and again in 2012 for outstanding contributions to the machinery industry. 

 

Lion Joy Patricia Sinclair

Nominated by the Lions Club of Canning City

Lion Joy Sinclair joined Lions Clubs International in 1991. She has been a member of the Riverton Lions Club and now Canning City.

At Club Joy has held the positions of 1st Vice President (twice),3rd Vice President (twice), director and Children of Courage Chairperson.

At District and State level, Joy has been Chairperson of Hearing Services   (4 times), Lions Hearing Dog Chairperson and Director of the Hearing Foundation.

Joy has been awarded a Melvin Jones Fellowship, Arthur and Lorna Dodd Hearing Foundation Award, District Governors Star and Appreciation Awards.

Joy was a social worker in her working life and was a board member of Nulsen Haven half way home for men and has received numerous awards including an Order of Australia Medal for services to Social Work.

With the assistance of several clubs in W1 and W2, Joy is currently organising toiletry kits and blankets for homeless youth through Uniting Care West and St Pats Fremantle. Also providing knotted blankets for Solaris Cancer Care and Childrens Hospital and assisting with Dress for Success (clothing for those looking for work.)

Past District Governor Allan Cooper joined Lions Clubs International in 1987 and is a Life member, he has been an active member of Booragoon Lions Club for 35 years.

At Club level Allan has held the positions of President, Secretary, Treasurer, Membership Director, Club Administrator and LCIF Coordinator.

At District Allan has been Zone Chairperson 1993/94, Region Chairperson 1994/95, Cabinet Treasurer 1995-98, and 2005-07, District Development Coordinator 1998/99, District Membership Chairperson 1999/2000, District Governor 2015/16, District Disaster Chairperson 2016/17, LCIF Chairperson, Constitution and By-Laws Committee and District ALF Chairperson 2117-22.

Multiple District and State Level, Allan has been treasurer for ALF from 2017-2022 and Secretary and Treasurer of the Western Australian Lions Hall of Fame 2017-2021. Allan was also on the organising committee of the 2000 Multiple District Convention.

Allan has been awarded an Arthur and Lorna Dodd Award and is a Fellow of the Lions Hearing Foundation, He has received an International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation and a James D Richardson Award. Allan is also a William R. Trecise Fellow and a Melvin Jones Fellow.

 

Lion David Jefferie Nelson

Dave Joined Lions Club International in 1967 at the Lions Club of Kwinana and is a Lion of 55 years with a 100% attendance record.

In those years Dave has served at 1st Vice President (2 years) 3rd Vice President (4 years), President (7 years). He was charter secretary and served in that position 31 years, Treasurer (1 year), Director (2 years) Tail Twister (7 years),Membership Chairperson (8 years), Christmas Cake Chairperson (11 years), Ball Committee, Social Chairperson (3 years) & Childrens Christmas Party Chairperson (23 years). At District he has been Zone Chairperson 1984/85 and 2000/01.

Dave is a Life Member of Lions Clubs International and a Melvin Jones Fellow. He is a 54 year Charter Monarch and has an ALF 50 years Service Medal, A 20 Key Members Sponsored. Dave has many Presidents Awards, 100% Awards for President, Secretary and Treasurer, Zone Chairman’s Awards , a Service Excellence Award and a Centennial Lion Award.

Dave is a Justice of the Peace of 39 years duration and a Civil Marriage and Funeral celebrant of 31 years. Dave was elected to Council in Kwinana for 12 years and served as Deputy Mayor (2 years), Mayor (4 years) and served on 11 local government committees in that time chairing many of them.

Dave is the Patron of the Kwinana Golf Club and the Kwinana Voluntary Fire Brigade and serves on Committees of 13 local Associations chairing many of them.

Dave has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship from Rotary International, Freeman of the City of Kwinana, Award for dedicated service to the disadvantaged of the community form Town of East Fremantle, City of Fremantle Family Friendly Award, Carmen Lawrence Citizens Award, Military Service Medal, Justice of the Peace Medal, government of Western Australia Department of Communities Award and a street name Dave J Nelson Avenue.

Jack first joined Lions Club International in 1976 in the Werribee Club and later transferred to the Lions Club of Whitford.

A lion for 46 years Jack has been Club President (5 terms), Secretary (4 terms) and Treasurer (9 terms). He has been a board member (29 years), Fair committee member (22 years), BBQ trailer coordinator (21 years).

In District Jack has been Membership Chairperson, Youth of the Year Coordinator, Miss Personality Coordinator, Children of Courage Chairperson, Cabinet Secretary and District Governor.

Jack was Master of Ceremonies for Multiple District Convention Perth and Chairman of Sightfirst WA and Indonesia 1992-95. For 6 years Jack was State coordinator for ‘Identikid’, Photo Kit instrumental in photographing 15,000 children and the Lions representative on Police Commissioner’s Mulitcultural Integration Committee. He has been a director of the Lions Cancer Institute and Lions Save Sight Foundation.

Jack is a life member of Lions Clubs International, a Melvin Jones fellow and a Progressive MJ Fellow, he has a James D. Richardson Award, and an Ian Stockdale Award which he holds jointly with his wife Kath. He has many International Awards. Jack also has a WA State Government Certificate of Recognition, a WA Premier Australia Day Citizen Award and an Order of Australia Medal.

Jack was State Chairman for the Australian Kidney Foundation for 6 years and treasurer of the Dialysis and Renal Transplant Association for 7 years. He was the WA Liaison for the Victorian Fire Officers ‘Run Around Australia’. He has been president of the Wanneroo RSL for the last 5 years, President Tribal Class Destroyers Association 23 years, President Wanneroo Probus Association 200/10, member of Royal Commonwealth Society and member of the Order of Australia Association.
